Location
The first billboard of planned network of 5 is located in Electronic Media Center at 5253 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago (corner of Lockwood Avenue, between Cicero and Central).
Why this location? It was selected very carefully. Accordingly to 2000 Census, conducted by USA Federal Census Bureau, Belmont-Cragin area “is growing the fastest of all the neighborhoods in the city of Chicago” (37,6 % increase since previous Census). And thus, it is one of the fastest growing in the U.S. (see Chicago weekly “Northwest Leader” from March 21, 2001).
This demographically very dynamic trend goes along with neighborhood transformation into upscale area where residents systematically increase their consumer habits and buying power. It has to be stressed, that Belmont Ave. is one of the bussiest streets in Chicago metropolitan area, with traffic around the clock. Flow of cars during peak hours is intense and steady. Strings of mini-malls, cafes, restaurants, service facilities, shops and delies contribute to increasing foot traffic. Most of businesses are open until late night hours and some of them even 24/7.
Multi-language displays
EMN billboard is the only full color, changing and dynamic medium that display messages in different languages. Therefore, in contrary to all the other media, it can advertise and promote among members of all ethnic and national groups. Where else the same medium serves not only English speaking clients, but also Spanish, Polish, German, Russian or Greek ones? This unique feature allows to advertise and promote product or service on literally international or even global level, in local neighborhoods. Combinaton of the two guarantees “direct hits”.
Belmont-Cragin area is a neighborhood of ethnic diversity, with European (especially Polish, Italian and Greek) dominance plus notable Hispanic influence. It’s also populated and attended by many other nationals: Russians, Czecks, Slovacs, Bulgarians, etc.) International flavour in creates additional business attraction, especially for visitors. For customer satisfaction, we provide free translations of multi-language messages.
Displays work on two levels. The first is based on traditional advertising and promotion offer, directed towards selling merchandise and services. The second, that can be even more important, serves as recognition tool, making sponsor’s name, logo, product and address well-known and trusted.
Traffic
Accordingly to our independent research, Belmon Ave. is one of the most traffic intense streets in Chicago metropolitan area. In peak hours, billboard is visible to drivers and passengers of up to 30 vehicles on each direction of traffic. We estimate, that during 30-second period (time of one standard spot) of moving traffic, this number can increase to 40 cars on each direction of traffic.
Accordingly to national standards, each metropolitan car during peak hours is taken by approximately 2.5 people. This gives about 200 riders in cars as prospective message recipients. Plus over 100 others from foot traffic on Belmont Ave. and car, bus and foot traffic on nearby streets (Wrightwood, Laramie, Long, etc.), in local businesses plus residents. Total number could be over 300 viewers per one 30-second spot.
